Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating two homicides in different parts of the city early Saturday.
Just after 2 a.m., officers discovered Brenton Tarell Samuels, 31, with gunshot wounds in the 8800 block of Hollow Creek Circle. That’s the address for the Reserve at Stone Hollow apartments, located off Mallard Creek Road in northeast Charlotte.
MEDIC pronounced Samuels dead at the scene, according to a police statement. Police discovered a second victim of the apartments’ shooting at a hospital. Police said the person was in stable condition.
Independence Boulevard shooting
Officers also responded to a homicide on the 5000 block of East Independence Boulevard in east Charlotte.
Just after 4 a.m., three uniformed officers in marked patrol cars were working off-duty when they heard gunfire at a nearby establishment, according to CMPD Major Stephen Fischbach in a video from the scene.
The shooting happened after an altercation outside the establishment. Police did not identify the business, but Safari Lux Lounge is the only one on that block.
Officers discovered three people with gunshot wounds. The two drove themselves to the hospital. MEDIC transported the third person who had been shot to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Shawn Taliesin Davis II, 31, was later identified by police as the man who died outside the lounge.
Police have not said whether they are looking for suspects or if they believe the homicides are linked.
CMPD asked anyone with information about the shootings to contact the homicide unit at 704-432-8477 or the Charlotte Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 704-334-1600.
