Deputies in Charleston: A motorbike chase over the weekend went over 125 mph

A 32-year-old Charleston man, Thomas McNally, faces multiple charges after leading deputies on a high-speed motorcycle chase, reaching speeds of over 125 mph on the interstate. The chase began late Saturday night, around 11:46 p.m., when deputies saw McNally’s motorcycle traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph on the eastbound side of I-26. When an officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, McNally accelerated and began weaving between lanes, attempting to evade capture.

High-Speed Pursuit Across Multiple Roads

The chase continued onto I-526, where McNally’s speed exceeded 125 mph. Deputies reported that the motorcycle exited I-526 onto Glenn McConnell Parkway, then onto Bees Ferry Road. The pursuit ultimately ended when McNally’s motorcycle crossed into the entrance of a local Parker’s Kitchen, where he struck a curb, causing him to be thrown off the bike.

Arrest and Hospitalization

Despite trying to flee on foot after the crash, McNally was apprehended by deputies. He was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution, and after being cleared by medical staff, he was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. McNally now faces charges of reckless driving and failure to stop for blue lights resulting in bodily injury, according to jail records.
