North Charleston, S.C. – Hason Tatorian “Tory” Fields, an alleged associate in a North Charleston corruption investigation, changed his plea to guilty on Tuesday, according to federal court documents. Fields admitted to charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, bribery, and honest services wire fraud.
Details of the Case
Fields was involved in a scheme to influence a former city councilmember by using bribes. Records show that he used illegal payments to gain support for a rezoning proposal related to the former Baker Hospital site for the company Sea Fox Boats.
Documents revealed that Fields paid Former District 3 Councilman Sandino Moses to secure his backing for the rezoning effort. As part of his guilty plea, Fields is required to debrief the government about his unlawful activities and testify in court if needed.
Penalties and Restitution
In addition to his testimony, Fields must pay restitution and faces a maximum sentence of 35 years in prison. He had previously pleaded not guilty during his initial arraignment hearing and was granted a $50,000 bond at that time.
