A major drug operation conducted by a coalition of local and state agencies has led to four arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics in Camden. Investigators from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, Camden Police Department, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) executed search warrants at three locations across the city, targeting suspected drug distribution activities.
Narcotics Seized
Authorities recovered a variety of drugs, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, crack cocaine, and powder cocaine. In addition, over twelve hundred dollars in cash was seized, marking a significant disruption to local drug trafficking operations.
Arrests and Charges
Four individuals were arrested during the operation:
- William Ernest Bethel, 37: Charged with multiple trafficking offenses, manufacturing crack cocaine, and distributing drugs near a school or park.
- William “Ray Ray” Bethel, 60: Facing charges for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as distribution.
- Shelley Salmond, 39: Charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine.
- Hope Dorsey, 48: Arrested on charges of second-offense possession of crack cocaine.
Investigators noted that several of the individuals arrested have prior federal drug convictions, adding further gravity to the operation’s impact.
This operation is seen as a significant step in combating drug trafficking in Camden and surrounding areas, with authorities vowing to continue their efforts to address narcotics-related crime.
