The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is ramping up patrols this Memorial Day weekend to keep roadways safe.
Increased Traffic and Safety Measures
With one of the busiest travel periods of the year approaching, the BCSO says more traffic means a higher risk of accidents. Deputies will be visible throughout the county, focusing on prevention, enforcement, and public safety.
Focus on Impaired Driving
Authorities stress the dangers of drinking or using drugs while driving. “Alcohol and drugs impair judgment, slow reaction times, and increase the likelihood of life-changing or fatal crashes,” the BCSO said. Residents are urged to plan a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or arrange a safe ride with friends or family.
Enhanced Patrols
BCSO deputies will conduct extra patrols and enforcement operations this weekend, targeting impaired driving and other dangerous behaviors.
