A Dorchester County deputy had stopped the vehicle for speeding near Midland Parkway and Benton’s Lodge Road around 6:30 p.m., which led to the discovery.

Investigators later determined that the shooting did not occur during the traffic stop. Instead, it happened earlier near John McKissick Field off South Magnolia Street.
The victim was already injured when the vehicle was pulled over.
Suspect Admits to Shooting
Police say the suspect, also a juvenile and the driver of the vehicle, admitted to the shooting. According to court documents, he had a 9mm pistol and intentionally pointed it at the victim before pulling the trigger.
A witness who was inside the vehicle also gave a statement that supported this version of events.
Charges Filed Against Suspect
The suspect has been taken to the Dorchester County Detention Center and is facing multiple charges, including murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
During a court hearing, bond was denied for the murder charge.
Weapon Found to Be Stolen
Investigators later recovered the firearm near Old Trolley Road. Authorities confirmed that the gun had been reported stolen through the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that another juvenile had given him the gun for safekeeping, but he chose to keep it.
