Three Upstate South Carolina Walmart shops are part of a $536 million remodeling effort

SOUTH CAROLINA — Walmart plans to invest $536 million to remodel 29 stores across the state, covering the Upstate, Midlands, Lowcountry, and Pee Dee regions. The renovations are part of Walmart’s nationwide effort to modernize stores and enhance the shopping experience.

Store Upgrades

The remodeled locations will include:

  • Expanded selection of healthy foods
  • Modernized layouts and technology
  • Enhanced in-store and digital shopping experiences
  • Faster delivery options, including one-hour deliveries
  • Updated pharmacies with affordable medications, vaccines, and clinical services
  • Vision Centers featuring brands such as Nike, Calvin Klein, and DKNY, offering free cleanings and adjustments

Walmart+ members will receive free pharmacy delivery for generic medications. A new store-based app will allow customers to navigate stores, schedule services at Auto Care Centers, and more.

Interactive displays will help shoppers visualize products in their homes. Stores will also stock brands like De’Longhi, Oura, Jessica Simpson, and Lemme.

The planned Upstate renovations include:

  • Boiling Springs – 4000 Hwy 9
  • Central – 1286 Eighteen Mile Road
  • Clemson – 680 Old Greenville Hwy
  • Laurens – 922 E. Main St
  • Simpsonville – 1401 W. Georgia Road

Other South Carolina Locations

  • Midlands: Cayce, Aiken, Columbia, Irmo, Leesville, Sumter
  • Lowcountry: Beaufort, Goose Creek, Hardeeville, Ladson, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, North Myrtle Beach, Summerville
  • Pee Dee / Grand Strand: Bennettsville, Darlington, Dillon, Marion, Myrtle Beach (four locations)

National Context

This year, Walmart is remodeling more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets across the U.S. Annie Walker, Senior Vice President of the East Business Unit, said, “By modernizing our stores, we’re making shopping faster, easier, and more convenient, all while empowering our teams to serve customers better and creating local opportunity.”
