North Charleston Police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a violent robbery that took place Tuesday morning. Authorities responded to the scene after reports of a fight and an injured man were called in.
Incident Details
Around 6:30 a.m., police were called to Rivers Avenue near I-526 after receiving multiple reports of a fight in the area. A separate caller also reported seeing a bloodied man riding a bicycle near the same location. Officers soon located the man, who was traveling east on a bicycle.
The victim was found with significant blood on his clothes and face. He told officers that the incident began near a Circle K convenience store located on the 5200 block of Rivers Avenue, where a suspect attempted to steal his bicycle.
Violent Confrontation
A struggle ensued when the victim tried to stop the theft, and the suspect reportedly struck him several times with an unknown object. In the chaos, the suspect also managed to steal the victim’s cell phone. The robbery occurred quickly, according to the victim’s account.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Suspect Description
The suspect is described as a man between 45 and 60 years old, wearing a dark-colored hoodie. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
