A Missouri man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to killing his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn twin sons.
Guilty Plea in Triple Killing
Darryl Tyson Jr., 41, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder and one count of domestic assault in the deaths of 28-year-old Bre’Anna Johnson and her unborn twins.
A judge sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
Autopsy Evidence Changed Defense Strategy
Prosecutors said Johnson was four months pregnant when Tyson shot her five times in the back in October 2024.
According to court proceedings, Tyson had initially claimed he acted in self-defense. However, autopsy findings showed Johnson was shot in the back, leading him to plead guilty before trial.
Family Seeks Justice
Johnson’s mother attended the sentencing and said she wanted to hear Tyson admit his guilt in court.
She said the guilty plea brought justice for her daughter and her unborn grandsons, though she believes Tyson should spend the rest of his life in prison.
Life Sentence Imposed
Tyson will serve a life sentence and will not be eligible for parole until he has spent at least 25 years behind bars.
