A tragic hit-and-run incident in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, has led to the arrest of a local woman. According to police, the crash happened late on Saturday night, April 12, along U.S. Highway 52 and resulted in the death of a 51-year-old woman and injuries to another.
Officers from the Moncks Corner Police Department responded quickly to the scene and, with help from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, worked through the night to investigate the incident. The woman behind the wheel, 38-year-old Dominique Stanley, later turned herself in through her attorney and now faces multiple serious charges.
What Happened on the Night of the Crash
The incident occurred around 11:43 p.m. near 1350 U.S. Highway 52. Police say a black Mazda CX-5 veered off the road, hitting a parked car and two people who were helping a third person out of that vehicle.
The driver did not stop to help and fled the scene immediately. Officers arrived and found the victims on the road, closing the area for several hours for investigation.
Victim Identified and Injuries Reported
One of the victims, Tonya Frazier, aged 51, suffered life-threatening injuries and later passed away at the hospital. Another person received non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released the same night. The third person involved was not physically hurt but was deeply shaken by the traumatic event.
Arrest Made After Driver Turns Herself In
On the following day, Dominique Stanley contacted the police through her lawyer and turned herself in. Authorities found the black Mazda CX-5 with visible front-end damage parked outside her home.
Stanley was arrested and charged with:
- Hit-and-run resulting in death
- Hit-and-run resulting in injury
- Hit-and-run involving damage to an attended vehicle
She is currently being held at the Berkeley County Detention Center. A judge has set bond at $75,000 for the fatal hit-and-run charge and $5,000 for each of the two other charges.

Moncks Corner Police Chief Lee Mixon expressed his condolences, saying, “We send our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family. While nothing can undo this tragedy, we hope the arrest brings some measure of closure.”
He also praised the team effort between local police, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and the media for helping to solve the case quickly.
