A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Dorchester County, South Carolina, after a pursuit in a stolen vehicle that resulted in the death of 12 geese. The suspect, identified as Robert Bennie Jackson, led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash and his arrest.
The Incident
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Summerville Police Department about a stolen vehicle from Berkeley County that was believed to be in the area of Ladson Road and Dorchester Road. Deputies located the stolen vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Jackson refused to stop and fled from law enforcement.
During the pursuit, Jackson struck and killed 12 geese. Authorities stated that Jackson continued to drive recklessly, eventually exiting the stolen vehicle before it had fully stopped, causing it to crash into a neighborhood fence. After the crash, Jackson attempted to flee on foot, making two unsuccessful attempts to climb over a fence before being arrested by deputies.
Charges and Arrest
Jackson faces multiple charges, including Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 12 Counts of Killing Waterfowl Out of Season. He remains in custody at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.
