A Maryland woman could face upgraded charges after authorities ruled the death of a 71-year-old man a homicide following an alleged assault during a parking dispute.
Woman Accused in Fatal Assault
Kiannah Bonaparte, 49, is currently charged with assault, conspiracy to commit assault and reckless endangerment in connection with the October 2025 incident in Baltimore.
Prosecutors are expected to seek more serious charges after the medical examiner determined that the victim’s death was a homicide.
Dispute Over Parking Space
According to investigators, 71-year-old Gregory Turnipseed approached a vehicle while walking on Saint Paul Street and told its occupants that another driver was waiting for a parking space.
Police allege that a teenage passenger exited the vehicle and punched Turnipseed in the head. Bonaparte then allegedly got out of the vehicle and kicked him in the head.
Authorities believe the two suspects are mother and daughter.
Victim Later Died
Turnipseed was hospitalized with a brain injury and underwent surgery following the attack.
He died about a month later from his injuries.
Investigators said Turnipseed identified Bonaparte as one of the people involved before his death.
Court Proceedings Continue
Bonaparte remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Friday.
Officials have not announced whether the teenage girl involved in the incident will face criminal charges.
Family members described Turnipseed as a caring public servant who was simply trying to help when the confrontation occurred.
