A New York man has been charged with multiple counts of murder after authorities say he fatally shot his wife, two young sons and a store clerk in separate incidents on the same day.
Family Found Dead During Welfare Check
According to investigators, police were conducting a welfare check at a home in Cheektowaga on Monday when 29-year-old Saleh Mohamed returned to the residence.
Officers entered the home and found Mohamed’s 26-year-old wife, Ayesha Abdullah, and the couple’s two sons, ages 4 and 3, dead from gunshot wounds.
Additional Killing Reported
Authorities allege that after the family members were killed, Mohamed drove to Buffalo and fatally shot a 43-year-old deli and convenience store employee.
Prosecutors said the victims were connected through the local Yemeni community, though the exact relationship between Mohamed and the store clerk has not been disclosed.
Suspect Arrested
Police said Mohamed was taken into custody when he returned to his home while officers were already at the scene.
Investigators believe a legally owned 9mm handgun was used in the shootings.
Charges Filed
Mohamed has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and multiple counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
The investigation into the shootings remains ongoing.
