Customer charged for tossing groceries at victim during a Harris Teeter dispute

A woman was arrested after an altercation at a grocery store in West Ashley, South Carolina, allegedly turned physical during an Uber Eats pickup.

Dispute at Self-Checkout

According to police, the incident occurred Saturday evening at a Harris Teeter on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.

Alexis Washington told officers she was completing an Uber Eats order at the self-checkout when another customer confronted her about the checkout process and asked her to move.

Washington admitted striking the woman, claiming the victim was interfering with her business.

Surveillance Video Reviewed

Officers later reviewed store surveillance footage, which allegedly showed Washington slapping the victim’s hand and throwing several grocery items at her during the confrontation.

The victim was identified as Shawishi Tartt.

Woman Charged

After reviewing the evidence, police determined Washington was the primary aggressor in the incident.

She was arrested and transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Washington has been charged with third-degree assault and battery.
