A South Carolina man has been arrested after allegedly tackling two juveniles off an electric bike and dragging one of them into his home during a dispute over repeated doorbell-prank incidents.
Man Accused of Dragging Child Into Home
According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, 50-year-old Chad Robert Larsen was arrested on June 1 following an incident in the Planters Curve neighborhood.
Police say Larsen believed a group of juveniles riding e-bikes were responsible for repeatedly ringing his doorbell and running away over the previous two weeks.
Confrontation Escalates
Investigators said Larsen waited for the juveniles to ride past before tackling two of them off an e-bike. One child reportedly escaped, but Larsen allegedly grabbed the other by the neck and arm and dragged the juvenile into his house.
A caller told dispatchers they could hear a child saying he was being choked.
When officers arrived, they found Larsen holding the juvenile inside the home. Police entered and removed the child before taking Larsen into custody.
Charges Filed
The juvenile was treated by emergency responders and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
According to police, Larsen admitted bringing the child inside the home and also told officers he briefly held a rock while confronting the juvenile.
Larsen has been charged with kidnapping, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and third-degree assault and battery.
Authorities said he was denied bond on the kidnapping charge.
