A New York woman has been charged with murder after police said she fatally stabbed a longtime friend while he was sleeping at his family’s Long Island home.
Man Fatally Stabbed While Sleeping
According to Nassau County police, 28-year-old Robert “Bobby” Carragher was stabbed in the neck around 1:30 a.m. on June 2 at his family’s home in Massapequa.
Investigators allege that 22-year-old Kristin Sculley, a friend Carragher had known for years, attacked him while he was asleep.
After being stabbed, Carragher reportedly ran upstairs and called for help. His parents rushed to assist him, but he died from his injuries at the scene.
Suspect Found Inside Home
Police said they found Sculley hiding inside the house and recovered a pocketknife believed to have been used in the attack.
Authorities believe an argument or anger toward the victim may have led to the stabbing, though an exact motive has not been released.
Murder Charge Filed
Sculley has been charged with second-degree murder and pleaded not guilty during her arraignment.
She remains in custody as the case moves through the court system.
Friends and family remembered Carragher as a kind and well-liked person whose death has left the community devastated.
