A Charleston man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a woman outside a homeless shelter, leaving her with serious injuries.
Assault Reported Outside Shelter
The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Saturday near the One80 Place shelter on Walnut Street in Charleston.
According to the Charleston Police Department, officers responded to reports of an assault in a nearby parking lot.
Woman Suffers Serious Injuries
Investigators said the suspect accused a woman in her 60s of stealing his belongings.
Police allege that the suspect then slammed the woman to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stomped on her head.
The victim suffered severe injuries, including multiple fractures and head trauma.
Suspect Arrested
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Yakeem Dion Moore, 23, of Charleston, on Monday.
Moore has been charged with attempted murder and was taken to a local detention centre.
Investigation Continues
The case remains under investigation. Charleston police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the department’s Central Detective Division or submit anonymous tips.
