A man legally named Loony Toon has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to shooting at police officers during a chase in Oregon last year.
Guilty Plea and Sentence
Loony John Franklin Kolb Toon, 43, pleaded guilty in Clackamas County Circuit Court on May 28 to several felony charges linked to a June 2025 incident.
He was convicted of:
- Four counts of attempted first-degree assault with a firearm
- Unlawful use of a firearm
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Second-degree escape
The court sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
What Happened?
Prosecutors said Toon fired a gun at three police officers in Milwaukie, Oregon, on June 20, 2025.
Authorities said he led officers on a high-speed chase, reaching speeds of up to 80 mph. After driving over a police spike strip, he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot onto a golf course.
Police were unable to find him that day, and he remained on the run until his arrest in Sandy, Oregon, three days later.
Criminal History
At the time of the incident, Toon was on probation for attempted first-degree kidnapping in Columbia County.
According to prosecutors, his criminal record includes 25 convictions, 16 of them felonies. He had also been convicted of fleeing from police in previous cases.
Additional Charges
As part of a plea agreement, Toon will also plead guilty to outstanding criminal charges in several other Oregon counties. Those sentences will run at the same time as his 20-year prison term.
He was also ordered to pay restitution for damage caused to a police vehicle and another vehicle struck by gunfire.
