Authorities in Michigan have dropped charges against Kimberly Park, the sister of a pregnant woman allegedly murdered by her parents in a horrifying case that shocked the state.
Kimberly Park had faced charges including tampering with evidence, lying to police during a violent crime investigation, and filing a false report connected to the death of her sister, Rebecca Park.
According to reports, a judge dismissed all charges against Kimberly Park on Friday. Prosecutors said the charges could still be refiled in the future.
No reason was publicly given for the dismissal.
Parents Still Face Murder Charges
The criminal case remains active against Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and Bradly Bartholomew, 47, who are accused of killing Rebecca Park in November 2025.
Authorities said Rebecca Park, who was 38 weeks pregnant, was found dead near a hiking trail in Manistee National Forest weeks after she was reported missing.
Investigators allege the couple attacked Park in a remote wooded area in Wexford County.
Investigators Describe Brutal Killing
According to court documents, prosecutors allege Rebecca Park was stabbed multiple times before her baby was cut from her body.
Authorities claim Bradly Bartholomew held a knife to Park’s throat while Cortney Bartholomew removed the baby boy from her stomach.
Investigators said the baby was not breathing after being removed.
Police allege Rebecca Park was later killed and her body dragged behind a truck before being left in the forest covered with leaves.
Authorities also said the baby’s remains have still not been recovered.
Suspects Allegedly Blamed Each Other
Investigators said both suspects initially denied involvement before later accusing each other during questioning.
According to court records, Cortney Bartholomew allegedly claimed her husband admitted to killing Rebecca Park.
Meanwhile, Bradly Bartholomew reportedly told police his wife wanted another baby to raise and removed the infant from Park’s body for that reason.
Prosecutors described the alleged crimes as premeditated and extremely violent.
Prosecutors Called Case ‘Evil Personified’
During an earlier court hearing, Johanna Carey described the case as “evil personified.”
Authorities allege the suspects planned the killing in advance and carried out the attack in a secluded wooded area after luring Rebecca Park into a vehicle.
The case has continued to shock communities across Michigan because of the disturbing allegations surrounding the death of both the mother and unborn child.
Additional Charges Remain in Separate Investigation
Following the discovery of Rebecca Park’s body, her fiancé, Richard Falor, was separately arrested on drug-related charges.
Reports state Falor still faces charges involving alleged methamphetamine distribution.
Meanwhile, prosecutors continue preparing the murder case against the Bartholomews as the investigation remains ongoing.
