A 51-year-old North Charleston man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly attacking a McDonald’s customer with a knife on Rivers Avenue.
Assault at McDonald’s
Officers responded just before 10:30 p.m. to a McDonald’s on Rivers Avenue following reports of an assault. The victim said he was inside the kiosk with his wife and child when a man began banging on the window.
When the victim went outside, the suspect allegedly asked for money. After the victim said he didn’t have any, the man, reportedly standing up from a wheelchair, pulled out a knife and swung it “like a baseball bat,” according to the North Charleston Police Department.
The victim suffered a small cut on his upper back before running back inside and calling 911.
Arrest and Charges
Police detained the suspect on Rivers Avenue. While no weapon was found immediately, officers later recovered a black machete behind some bushes.
Trevor Jermaine Washington, 51, of North Charleston, was charged with first-degree assault and battery and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
