NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Firefighters from the North Charleston Fire Department responded Tuesday night to a fire at the Ingevity Chemical Plant located off Virginia Avenue.
According to Deputy Chief Christan Rainey, the fire started in a piece of equipment that stores crude oil. Crews worked for approximately two hours to contain the flames and remained on-site afterward to monitor for any potential flare-ups.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The North Charleston Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
