An Oklahoma couple has been charged after a 9-year-old boy died from injuries authorities said were linked to severe abuse.
Couple Charged In Child’s Death
According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, Steven Duty and Alicia Busey are charged with murder and multiple counts of child neglect in connection with the death of Ruger Boude.
Police said officers responded to a hospital on April 10 after the child arrived with injuries consistent with physical abuse.
Boy Found With Serious Injuries
Investigators said Ruger suffered a head injury, a broken wrist, bruises, and multiple BBs lodged inside his body, including one in his kidney.
Authorities also examined Ruger’s two brothers and reportedly found healing fractures and BBs in their bodies as well.
Investigation Ongoing
Reports said Busey is Ruger’s mother and Duty is her boyfriend. The children reportedly lived with the couple.
Police have not released additional details about the investigation or whether either suspect has entered a plea.
Ruger’s obituary described him as an energetic second-grade student who loved helping his family.
