In Myrtle Beach, a man has been accused of hitting someone with a metal baseball bat

A 41-year-old man is facing several charges after a reported assault involving a metal baseball bat in Myrtle Beach, according to police records.

Man Accused Of Assault With Metal Bat

Police said Jamon Canty was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, along with firearm and drug-related offenses.

According to an arrest warrant, Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to an assault call on April 22 near 101 Flagg St.

Investigators said the victim told officers Canty allegedly attacked him with what appeared to be a metal baseball bat, striking him several times in the face, head, and body.

Victim Suffered Serious Injuries

Police said the victim and Canty knew each other. The victim reportedly suffered multiple orbital fractures that required surgery, along with cuts requiring stitches, bruises, and abrasions.

Canty Arrested By U.S. Marshals

According to warrants, Canty was arrested on May 4 by the United States Marshals Service with assistance from Myrtle Beach police.

Authorities said he was allegedly found with drugs and three weapons at the time of his arrest. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday night and remains in custody.
