Authorities in Horry County are warning residents after several vehicle break-ins were reported in the Carolina Forest and River Oaks Drive areas.
Multiple Vehicles Targeted
According to the Horry County Police Department, multiple vehicles were broken into outside an apartment complex on River Oaks Drive. Police said both forced entry and unlocked vehicle break-ins have recently been reported in the Carolina Forest area.
Officials said five vehicles were broken into overnight between April 28 and April 29.
Windows Smashed, Items Stolen
Police reports state that several vehicle windows were shattered and items including wallets, cash, debit cards, identification cards, and purses were stolen.
One victim reported that someone attempted to use a stolen debit card for a $400 locksmith payment and a Cash App transfer, but the charges were declined.
Another victim reported stolen items from a pickup truck, including a wallet, coins, and identification cards. Some stolen items were later recovered by officers in the area.
Police Share Safety Tips
No arrests have been made in connection with the break-ins.
Police are reminding residents to:
- Lock vehicles at all times
- Remove valuables from inside cars
- Avoid leaving personal belongings visible
- Report suspicious activity to authorities immediately
Officials said anyone noticing suspicious activity should contact Horry County Dispatch or call 911 in an emergency.
