Coroner identified the driver deceased after slamming into an illegally parked semi on I-85

A fatal crash occurred early Wednesday morning on I-85 South in Anderson County, South Carolina, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old driver.

Fatal Crash on I-85 South Claims One Life

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Elijah Anthony Dubose, 28, from Anderson, South Carolina.

The crash happened around 3:48 a.m. near the entrance of the southbound rest area, close to mile marker 23. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), Dubose was driving a 2010 Honda Accord when he veered off the right side of the interstate and collided with the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked illegally near the entrance ramp.

No Injuries to Tractor-Trailer Driver

Officials said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and was unharmed.

Cause of Death and Investigation

The coroner confirmed that Dubose died from multiple traumatic injuries, and his death has been ruled accidental.

Both the Anderson County Coroner’s Office and SCHP are continuing their investigation into the incident.
