Union, SC – Authorities are investigating a fight that took place outside a tanning salon in Union on Friday, leaving a 16-year-old girl injured. The incident occurred at Tan Hut and Salon and involved multiple individuals.
Details of the Incident
Union Public Safety officers responded to reports of a fight at the salon, with dispatchers indicating that one of the individuals was bleeding. Emergency medical services were also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, first responders found a female juvenile suffering from a bleeding injury to her right arm. She was promptly transported to Spartanburg Medical Center for treatment, but was later released after receiving care.
The Confrontation
Investigators reported that the altercation began when a woman, who had finished tanning, was sitting inside her vehicle. A juvenile allegedly approached the vehicle, opened the door, and began assaulting the woman. Police said that a second person soon joined in the attack.
In response, the woman reportedly grabbed a hatchet from inside her vehicle and displayed it before getting back inside and closing the door. Despite this, the two individuals returned and continued the assault through the open window.
Self-Defense and Injury
During the struggle, the juvenile was injured, suffering a cut while the woman was holding the hatchet. Authorities have described the woman’s actions as self-defense in response to the ongoing attack.
Investigation Continues
After reviewing witness statements and video evidence, officers later identified a person who had left the scene prior to their arrival as the victim of the assault. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, but no additional details have been released at this time.
