A motorcyclist died in a collision in Cherokee County

Cherokee County, SC – A motorcyclist from North Carolina was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Gaffney on Sunday afternoon. The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death following the incident.

Details of the Crash

The crash occurred on S.C. Highway 11 when a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound. According to the coroner’s office, the motorcyclist attempted to pass a Ford Escape that was turning left onto Bonner Road. The motorcyclist struck the side of the Escape and was thrown from the bike.

Fatal Injuries

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 48-year-old William Michael Martin Jr. of Gastonia, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has stated that an autopsy will be performed to assist in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities are working to gather further details surrounding the incident.
