The Charleston Airshow has been canceled due to weather.

The much-anticipated airshow scheduled over Charleston Harbor on Saturday has been officially canceled due to poor weather conditions. Joint Base Charleston made the announcement, citing continuing rain and unfavorable conditions that prevented the event from taking place.

Weather Conditions Lead to Cancellation

Base officials had been monitoring the weather forecast closely, hoping for a window in the rain to allow the show to go on. However, the persistent rain and unfavorable conditions ultimately forced organizers to cancel the event, disappointing many spectators who were looking forward to the demonstrations.

“The weather ultimately kept us out of the skies today, but safely navigating this pivot was a massive team effort,” said Colonel Jason Parker, Joint Base Charleston Installation Commander. He praised the planning committee, first responders, and local civic leaders for their dedication in preparing for every contingency. Parker also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Lowcountry community, stating that they look forward to future aviation events in the area.

Event Details and Adjustments to the Airshow

Originally scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m., the airshow would have been visible to spectators from areas in Charleston and Mount Pleasant, with free access to the demonstrations. This is the second major change to the 2026 airshow. It was initially planned as a two-day event at Joint Base Charleston but was later scaled down to a one-day-only show over Charleston Harbor due to “current global events.”

While the 2026 airshow has now been canceled, Joint Base Charleston confirmed that they are already planning the 2028 Charleston Airshow, ensuring the community can look forward to future aviation displays.
