A tragic road accident in Charleston has claimed the life of a young motorcyclist, with authorities now confirming the victim’s identity and continuing their investigation.
Victim Identified in Fatal Crash
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Codie Hill, a 23-year-old from North Charleston.
According to officials, he died at 7:24 a.m. at the Medical University of South Carolina after suffering serious injuries in the crash.
How the Crash Happened
The accident took place around 6:40 a.m. on Clements Ferry Road near Marina Drive in Charleston. Police reported that the crash involved a motorcycle and an 18-wheeler.
Initial findings suggest that the motorcycle was travelling northbound when it struck the rear of a truck that was turning onto the roadway.
Impact and Injuries
The force of the collision caused the rider to be thrown off the motorcycle. He then hit a shipping container that was being carried on the truck’s trailer, which led to severe injuries.
Emergency responders quickly took him to the hospital, but he later died from those injuries.
