Troopers search for truck in fatal hit-and-run

Authorities are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Kershaw County.

Deadly Crash Under Investigation

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 12:15 a.m. Thursday on Wildwood Lane near Palm Road.

Investigators say a moped was struck, resulting in the death of the driver.

Victim Identified

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Brandon James Butler of Elgin.

Officials say he died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Vehicle Description Released

Troopers are looking for a black Chevrolet pickup believed to be a 2015 to 2020 model, either a 2500 or 3500 series.

Authorities say the vehicle is likely to have damage to the front and/or passenger side.

Ongoing Search

The driver fled the scene following the crash, and investigators are working to locate both the vehicle and the person responsible.
