A 23‑year‑old Columbia man, Latif Shi’Yon Elijah Ross, has been arrested and charged with murder after a deadly afternoon shooting at the Ovation @ 3500 apartments in Lexington County. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says the incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Saturday at 3500 Fernandina Road, where deputies found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

What happened at the scene

Deputies tried to administer life‑saving measures at the scene, but the victim, a man whose name has not yet been released publicly, was pronounced dead by emergency medical services. Sheriff Jay Koon said the investigation, including witness statements, showed that Ross had been arguing with the victim before the shooting and then left the scene.

Charges and current status

Ross was arrested on Sunday morning and is now charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person prohibited. He has been taken into the Lexington County jail, and the case remains under investigation as authorities continue to follow leads and gather evidence.
