Chef Heather Hutton’s Roxa dessert bar in Hanahan redefines desserts as a standalone, interactive experience blending global flavors with classic pastry techniques.
Roxa’s Concept
Roxa draws its name from the Portuguese word for purple, reflected in its moody violet ambiance and desserts featuring natural purple elements like floral garnishes and fruits.
Hutton crafts plated desserts inspired by Filipino, Peruvian, and Japanese cuisines atop American and French foundations, balancing textures and surprises like candy cap mushrooms for maple notes.
Chef’s Background
With 20 years of experience, including Johnson & Wales studies and executive pastry chef at Edmund’s Oast, Hutton pivoted during COVID via pop-ups that sparked her entrepreneurial side.
She now hosts at a chef’s counter, sharing stories and fostering guest conversations in an intimate, communal setting.
Location and Hours
Roxa sits at 1296 Yeamans Hall Road, open Wed-Thu 5-10 p.m., Fri-Sat 5-11 p.m., and Sundays for a six-course tasting.
Early buzz shows repeat visitors embracing this fresh local gem.
