A domestic dispute in North Charleston turned violent on Thursday evening, leading to the arrest of a 37-year-old woman.

What Happened

According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing around 6 p.m. on Mendelwood Drive. When they arrived, they found a man with a serious hand injury and quickly provided first aid before emergency medical services took him to a hospital for treatment.

Details of the Incident

Investigators say the situation began as an argument between the man and his girlfriend, Olivia Vernell Hicks. The disagreement became physical, and at some point, the man locked her out of the house.

Police say Hicks then used a kitchen knife to try to open a window. As the man attempted to close it, she allegedly stabbed him, causing the injury to his hand.

Arrest and Charges

After the incident, Hicks reportedly threw the knife in the garage and left the scene. Officers later found her at a nearby convenience store and took her into custody.

She has been charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
