Woman charged with murder in the fatal Ravenel Memorial Day shooting

A Charleston woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting that happened over the holiday weekend in Ravenel.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Donna Terese Woods, 28, is charged with murder.

Court records also show Woods faces a charge of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Deputies Responded to Earlier Disturbance

Authorities said the charges stem from a shooting that happened Monday night at a home on Buckhorn Road.

Deputies first responded to the residence around 6 p.m. regarding a disturbance involving Woods. Officials said deputies later cleared the scene.

According to investigators, Woods allegedly returned to the home around 10 p.m., where another verbal argument reportedly took place.

Victim Shot at Home

Officials say Woods allegedly retrieved a gun from her vehicle and shot one of the homeowners during the incident.

The victim died at the scene.

Authorities have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity.

Suspect Found After Leaving Scene

According to investigators, Woods fled the area after the shooting.

Deputies later located and arrested her with assistance from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

She was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is still ongoing.

Officials are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact deputies at 843-202-1700.

Bond information was not immediately available. Woods is scheduled to appear in court on July 17 at 2 p.m.
