Another arrest in the North Charleston copper cable theft case

North Charleston, S.C. — Police have made a third arrest in connection with the theft of copper wire from a business in North Charleston.

Michael David Prosecky, 45, was arrested after an investigation by the North Charleston Police Department. The case involves stolen electrical copper wire from a Ruby Tuesday location on Northside Drive.

He has been charged with damage to property while stealing metals.

Theft Discovered During Patrol

According to police, officers were on foot patrol at the restaurant on January 31 when they found two homeless individuals inside an unlocked storage area.

While speaking with them, a nearby hotel employee alerted officers about suspicious activity in the area.

Officers then checked the east side of the restaurant and found three electrical power panels open, with all copper wiring removed.

Surveillance Footage Helps Investigation

The hotel employee told officers he saw several individuals removing copper wire from the panels and loading it into a vehicle.

Surveillance footage from the hotel reportedly showed the stolen wire being taken into one of the hotel rooms.

Police questioned four people in connection with the case and issued trespass notices.

Two More Arrested, One Still Wanted

Two other suspects — Aimee Michelle Becker and Benjamin Shaffer — were previously arrested and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Authorities are still searching for Sharnise Letitia Cook, 35, in connection with the case.
