NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A North Charleston man was arrested on Saturday morning after being linked to a commercial burglary at the Palmetto Goodwill corporate office.
Incident Details
The North Charleston Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at around 2 a.m. at the Palmetto Goodwill corporate office. Upon arrival, officers noticed an open bay door on the side of the building.
While searching the premises, an officer spotted a suspect hiding behind boxes, “peering out from above a cardboard box.” The officer then ordered the individual to step into an open area for a search.
Discovery and Arrest
During the search, police discovered a large Bowie-style knife tucked into the suspect’s waistband. The individual was also carrying a flashlight, a single glove, cash, batteries, a cellphone, and a bicycle. The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Clarence Jason Brown.
Following the investigation, Brown was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary. He was taken to the AI Cannon Detention Center.
