NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Four teenagers were arrested on Sunday night after allegedly robbing three men at gunpoint and attempting to rob nine others in North Charleston.
Incident Details
At around 7 p.m. on Sunday, officers from the North Charleston Police Department responded to a call about weapons on Oak Leaf Drive.
The victims, who were playing basketball at the time, reported that the four suspects approached them, demanded their wallets, and pulled out guns. Fearing for their safety, the victims handed over their belongings. The suspects then fled through the back of the neighborhood.
Quick Response and Arrests
An off-duty officer in the area spotted the suspects, and nearby officers detained three of the four individuals. The fourth suspect initially managed to flee the scene but was later turned in by his mother.
Evidence and Charges
Following the investigation, police recovered two handguns, which had been reported stolen, as well as $825 in cash from the suspects. The four teens, ages ranging from 13 to 15, were arrested and charged with:
- Three counts of armed robbery
- Nine counts of attempted armed robbery
- Four counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime
- Possession of a firearm under the age of 18
All four suspects were taken to a local detention center.
