Mount Pleasant Police took a man into custody on March 18, 2026, after he ran erratically in traffic lanes on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge spanning Charleston Harbor.

Incident Details

Calls came in around 2:15 p.m. about the suspect near the bridge’s top, heading toward downtown Charleston in the northbound lanes. Officers spotted him, tried to intervene, but he jumped the median and continued southbound toward the Morrison Drive exit.

Arrest and Charges

Police apprehended him safely near the exit and charged him with public disorderly conduct. He was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. The cable-stayed bridge links downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant across the Cooper River.
