Two suspects, Melissa Ammonds and Gregory Noisette, were arrested by Charleston Police for an armed robbery involving three victims early Sunday morning. The incident unfolded near Spring, Smith, and Morris streets in downtown Charleston.

Around 2 a.m., a vehicle approached the walking victims twice; Ammonds and Noisette exited, with Noisette appearing armed and Ammonds trying to grab a purse. They demanded Venmo payments, and one victim complied, aiding quick identification via transaction records and vehicle details.

Charges and Arrest

Both face one count of armed robbery and two counts of attempted armed robbery. Officers stopped their vehicle downtown, taking them into custody; Noisette was on probation supervision at the time.

Detention Status

Ammonds, 53, from Orangeburg, and Noisette, 37, from Charleston, are held at Al Cannon Detention Center.
