A Eutawville man has been identified as the victim of a tragic pedestrian crash on US 301.

A 45-year-old man from Eutawville died after being struck by an SUV on US 301 near Dempsey Road in Orangeburg County, S.C., around 12:50 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported the pedestrian was in the roadway as the southbound vehicle hit him; the driver was unharmed.

Victim Details

Francis Simmons was identified as the victim by Coroner Sean Fogle, who ruled the manner of death an accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene from collision injuries.

Investigation Status
