Thousands are without electricity in South Carolina.

South Carolina is experiencing widespread power outages, with 3,968 homes and businesses without electricity as of Sunday evening. That represents approximately 0.13% of the 3,066,055 customers tracked statewide. The state currently ranks sixth in the nation both for the total number of outages and for the percentage of customers affected. Utility crews are continuing restoration efforts across impacted areas.

Georgetown County Hit Hardest

Georgetown County has the highest number of outages, with 1,150 customers without power, accounting for 2.66% of its total customers — the highest percentage in the state. Other counties reporting significant outages include Charleston County with 636 outages, Sumter County with 341, Florence County with 236, Colleton County with 232, Lexington County with 209, Anderson County with 198, and Beaufort County with 163 customers affected.

Utilities Reporting the Most Impact

Among the 38 utilities tracked statewide, Santee Cooper reports the highest number of customers without power at 1,150. Lynches River Electric Cooperative has the highest percentage of customers impacted, with 0.62% experiencing outages. Crews from multiple utilities remain engaged in restoration work to return service as quickly and safely as possible.
