A popular burger chain has closed a Columbia location. What to know

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a national chain specializing in steakburgers and creamy frozen custard, has permanently closed its Irmo, South Carolina, location at 10611 Broad River Road.

Closure Details

The site now shows as “permanently closed” on Google Maps and has vanished from the company’s official website, with signage already removed from the building. Opened in 2018, the restaurant sat in a bustling commercial corridor near major retailers like Walmart and fast-food spots including Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s. The property is currently listed for sale at $2.2 million through CBRE.

Remaining Midlands Locations

Freddy’s maintains a presence in the Midlands region with open outlets in Lexington, West Columbia, and other nearby areas. These spots continue to serve signature items like shoestring fries, all-beef hot dogs, and freshly churned custard treats. Recent closures elsewhere in South Carolina, such as on Killian Road in Columbia and in Florence, signal broader challenges for the chain statewide.
