A South Carolina man has been charged with the attempted murder of a sheriff's deputy during a burglary

Jacob Harrison Craven, 32, was charged with attempted murder of a deputy, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced.

Incident Details

On March 6, 2026, an Aiken deputy responded to a burglary in progress. The deputy encountered Craven at the back of the residence, who fled inside. The deputy chased him and found Craven in a bedroom, where he allegedly brandished a gun and pressed it to the deputy’s torso with intent to kill.

Legal Action

Craven was charged with attempted murder on Thursday and booked at the Aiken County Detention Center. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office requested the SLED investigation, and the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the case.
