The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. on the 6200 block of W. Tidwell following an argument that escalated to the front door, where about 30 gunshots were reported by neighbors. Campbell arrived at the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries.​
Investigation Status
Houston Police detained a woman hours after the event and released her, then held a man around 2 a.m. the next day; no suspects have been publicly identified as of January 18. The motive remains unclear beyond the preceding argument.​
Family Response
Campbell’s sister, Kanneshia Penrice, shared their last conversation a week prior, where Campbell expressed readiness to move forward with her life. Penrice clarified Campbell did not live at the apartment and the children were not hers, while entrusting justice to faith.​
