A Berkeley County man, Thomas Paul Palmer, led deputies on a high-speed chase in Moncks Corner after a traffic stop for a suspended license plate, resulting in his arrest on multiple drug and firearm charges.​
Incident Details
The pursuit began January 11 on Highway 52 near Horne Street when deputies tried to stop Palmer’s white 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup. It continued through Epson Plantation Drive, Rembert C. Dennis Boulevard, Old Highway 52, and the Shannonwood area at speeds up to 78 mph, ending after two stop stick deployments.​
Seizures
Deputies found 12.80 grams of methamphetamine, 0.40 grams of cocaine, 2.70 grams of fentanyl-laced marijuana, a glass pipe, torch lighter, digital scale with residue, and a loaded bullpup 12-gauge shotgun with drum magazine.​
Charges
Palmer faces failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, firearm possession by a prior PWID convict, methamphetamine trafficking (10-28 grams), cocaine manufacturing/possession (first offense), and related counts.​
Current Status
The 39-year-old Bonneau resident was booked into Hill-Finklea Detention Center awaiting bond; the investigation continues.​
