Jason Anthony Scott, an 18-year-old from North Carolina, faces felony charges including two counts of involuntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly speeding into another vehicle, killing mother Lorin Elizabeth Manley and grandmother Gloria Manley. The crash occurred around 7:45 p.m. on December 27, 2025, on Ardrey Kell Road in Charlotte, where witnesses reported Scott’s 2013 BMW 335i exceeding 100 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Crash Details
Lorin was found unresponsive in her damaged 2011 Honda CR-V, with Gloria in the backseat; both were pronounced dead at the scene. A 12-year-old passenger, Lorin’s daughter, survived with serious injuries including broken bones and a collapsed lung, and is now supported by her older sister. The family had been returning from a shopping trip; Scott, hospitalized with injuries, tested negative for impairment.
Legal Proceedings
Scott was arrested on January 12, 2026, and appeared in court on January 13 with a $300,000 secured bond, driver’s license revocation, and a no-driving order. His next court date is February 3; no plea or attorney details are available yet. Police suspect speed as the primary factor, with toxicology pending for the victims.
