Pet Helpers requests that the community increase adoptions since it has almost doubled its capacity.

Pet Helpers animal shelter on James Island, South Carolina, faces severe overcrowding with 98 animals—more than double their normal capacity of 44—particularly among dogs and puppies. Marketing Director JJ Steele notes increased intakes from financial hardships, lost strays, and Charleston County strays, leading to animals in offices, desks, and break rooms.

The shelter urges adoptions and fostering to create space for incoming animals. They’re offering 50% off dog and puppy adoption fees, with all pets already spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, plus starter harness and food provided.
