North Charleston Police arrested Travis Watson, 24, in connection with the December 16, 2025, shooting death of a 4-year-old child on Van Buren Street. The child was struck by a stray bullet while inside a vehicle and was not the intended target. Watson faces charges including murder, three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.​

Suspect Still at Large

Authorities continue searching for 20-year-old Duane Fransiqo Wright, wanted on identical charges in the case. Wright, described as 5-foot-7, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, has a prior criminal record including weapons and drug charges. The U.S. Marshals Service offers a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.​

Incident Details

The shooting occurred around 6:45 p.m., with the child dying shortly after midnight at a hospital. Police linked a dark blue or black BMW 740 series sedan to the event and released 911 calls showing community panic. A peace walk followed, uniting residents and officers against violence.​
