Firefighters in the Charleston Tri-County area responded to multiple fires overnight on New Year’s Eve, likely caused by fireworks. No injuries were reported from these incidents. Battalion Chief Charles Evans of the C&B Fire Department confirmed three to four structure fires and several brush fires occurred.​

A significant fire before 3 a.m. in Sangaree destroyed a storage shed and damaged a nearby residence on Nathan Road. C&B Fire, South Berkeley, and Summerville Fire Departments, along with Berkeley County EMS, handled the response.​
