Sergio Chavez-Morales, a 38-year-old Milwaukee man, faces charges of physical abuse of a child and felony bail jumping after allegedly throwing a 5-month-old infant across an apartment hallway on December 22, 2025. Multiple witnesses, including a 19-year-old woman chased by Chavez-Morales, reported seeing him grab and toss the baby, causing it to cry out in pain. The incident occurred during a police response to a weapons call near North Teutonia Avenue and West Roosevelt Drive.​

Police arrived to find Chavez-Morales being pursued by the woman with a knife; she stated she witnessed the abuse.
